Adirondack Phantoms News Release
The Philadelphia Flyers announced that they've loaned forward Brayden Schenn and defenseman Kevin Marshall to the Adirondack Phantoms, according to Flyers General Manager Paul Holmgren. The Phantoms also announced that they've recalled defenseman Cullen Eddy from the ECHL's Greenville Road Warriors.
Schenn, 20, comes back to the Phantoms after an early-season offensive explosion with Adirondack, when he compiled four goals and four assists in four games, including his first professional hat trick, on October 14 against Bridgeport. Getting called up to Philadelphia on October 19 and playing four games with the Flyers, Schenn suffered an injury against Montreal on October 26, which has kept him out of action for the last month. One of hockey's top prospects, Schenn came to the Flyers along with Wayne Simmonds via a trade with the Los Angeles Kings last summer. The native of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan was drafted by Los Angeles in the first round (fifth overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. Schenn played in nine games NHL games with the Kings and had seven points (3g, 4a) in seven games with the club's AHL affiliate, the Manchester Monarchs. Schenn starred again in Major Juniors in 2010-11 with Saskatoon registering 53 points (21g, 32a) in only 27 games and also was a leader on the World Juniors Championships Team Canada squad winning tournament MVP honors and recording 18 points.
Marshall, 22, comes back to the Phantoms after playing 14:11 in his NHL debut on Monday night against the Carolina Hurricanes. Marshall is Adirondack's all-time leader in games played with 168. Marshall has six goals and 18 assists in his career with the Phantoms, including a goal in the team's 2011-12 Opening Night win over the Connecticut Whale. A product of Boucherville, Quebec; Marshall played for the Lewiston MAINEiacs and Quebec Remparts over four seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
Eddy, 23, played in 12 games with Greenville and led Road Warrior defensemen with three goals, eight assists and 11 points. A 6-foot, 195-pound blueliner from Hidden Valley, Pennsylvania, Eddy started the 2011-12 season with the Phantoms and registered an assist in two games. Last season, Eddy had 10 points (3g, 7a) in 47 games with the Phantoms, and four points (1g, 3a) and a +2 rating with Greenville, netting his first professional goal against the South Carolina Stingrays on October 29. Eddy started his pro career by playing seven regular-season and eight playoff games for the ECHL-Cincinnati towards the end of the 2009-10 season, skating with the Cyclones during their run to a Kelly Cup Championship. Eddy turned pro following a four-year collegiate career at Mercyhurst College (AHA) in Erie, Pennsylvania. where he laced up his skates in 144 games for the Lakers and accumulated nine goals, 40 assists and 322 penalty minutes.
The Phantoms wish a happy welcome back to Brayden, Kevin and Cullen!
