St. Charles Felt the Chill, Swept by Sundogs

Prescott Valley, AZ - The Arizona Sundogs swept the St. Charles Chill with a final score, 3-2 win Saturday night and collected six of 10 possible points on the road.

The Sundogs and Chill went back and forth tonight exchanging goals which Arizona began 5:15 into the opening frame with a goal from Dion Campbell, his second of the season and assist from Bryan Cameron. St. Charles didn't let Arizona's goal go unanswered knotting the game 1:03 later with a shot ripped from the far circle and off the crossbar. Paul Mcilveen broke the tied game with an unassisted goal off the face-off, giving the Sundogs the lead going into the second period.

Each team would notch a goal in the middle period both on the power play. Phil Bushbacher scored after Michael Trebish was sent to the box for a two minute holding minor. Arizona held off St. Charles from extending their brief lead after the Sundogs gave up back to back penalties resulting in a 46 second 5-on-3 man advantage for the Chill. Jason Morgan's game winning goal came with 27 seconds left in a four minute double minor penalty for high sticking that was called on St. Charles' Greg Brown. Alex Tuckerman and Mcilveen were each credited with the assists.

Arizona held off the Chill in the final period despite the man advantages setup by both teams. St. Charles and Arizona were both sent to the box 3:42 into the third period after a scrum brokeout behind Arizona's net, resulting in a power play opportunity for the Sundogs which they were unable to convert. Arizona would again give up two, back to back penalties in this contest after Kevin Baker and Dion Campbell were each given two minutes for tripping, within 58 seconds of each other. Jordan Clendenning and Kevin Noble of St. Charles were each accessed a five minute fighting major, after Clendenning took exception to a hit on Arizona's Sebastian Geoffrion .

Sundogs netminder, Andrew Engelage tallied his third consecutive win for the team and made 22 saves on 24 shots. Arizona was 1-5 on the power play and St. Charles was 1-6. Arizona was outshot by St. Charles 17-24.

The Sundogs return home for a pair of games against the Quad City Mallards next week at Tim's Toyota Center.
