Squadron Notch Franchise's First Home Win

BIRMINGHAM, AL - The Birmingham Squadron (3-5), NBA G League affiliate of the New Orleans Pelicans, took down the Mexico City Capitanes (3-7) in a 109-107 win in Legacy Arena Tuesday night. The win splits the Squadron's series with the Capitanes, heading into a home series with the Lakeland Magic (5-3) later this week, the team's second of three-straight home series.

On assignment from the Pelicans, center Jaxson Hayes led the way for the Squadron in his first game with the team, tallying a double-double on 30 points and 10 rebounds, while adding four blocks and one assist. Forward Trey Murphy III also gave Birmingham a boost in his first game with the team after being assigned by the Pelicans, notching 18 points, seven rebounds, one assist and one block in the contest.

Jared Harper recorded another performance of 20+ points, his fifth this season, this time posting 23 points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals. His 22.6 scoring average this season now ranks tied for seventh in the G League.

Forward Alfonzo McKinnie led the Capitanes for the second-straight game, this time with 23 points on 9-of-23 attempts. McKinnie logged a double-double, adding 10 rebounds as well as one assist and one steal in the game.

The Squadron stay at home for a pair of games against the Lakeland Magic (5-3) on Thursday night and Saturday night at 7:00 p.m., the second of three straight home series at Legacy Arena.
