Springfield Falcons Release Defenseman Nathan Oystrick from PTO

Springfield, Mass. - The Springfield Falcons have released defenseman Nathan Oystrick from his professional tryout contract, Falcons Director of Hockey Operations Bruce Landon announced today.

Oystrick, 32, skated in 12 games with the Falcons, earning four points (1g, 3a) and posting four penalty minutes, since signing a PTO with the team on Nov. 13. The 6-foot, 210-pound defenseman spent the 2013-14 and 2012-13 seasons with Prague Lev of the KHL, where he appeared in 86 contests, earning 25 points (5g, 20a) to go with his 78 penalty minutes and a +9 rating. Oystrick has skated in a career total 65 NHL games with Atlanta, Anaheim and St. Louis, accumulating 15 points (5g, 10a) and 61 penalty minutes. He is also a veteran of 338 AHL games, where he has racked up 206 points (64g, 142a), 553 penalty minutes and a +28 rating.

Prior to his pro career, the Regina, Saskatchewan native spent four years at Northern Michigan University, tallying 89 points (26g, 63a) and 269 penalty minutes in 151 appearances. He also notched 101 points (24g, 77a) to go along with 372 penalty minutes in 110 contests with the South Surrey Eagles of the BCHL.

Oystrick was drafted in the seventh round, 198th overall, by the Atlanta Thrashers in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.
