
Springfield Falcons Ink Defensemen Patrick Cullity and Mike Cornell

Springfield, Mass. - The Springfield Falcons have inked defensemen Patrick Cullity and Mike Cornell to professional tryout contracts, Falcons Director of Hockey Operations Bruce Landon announced today.
Cullity, 27, has skated in 34 games with the Idaho Steelheads of the ECHL this season, earning 11 points (2g, 9a) to go along with 40 penalty minutes and a +19 rating. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound defenseman has appeared in 51 games with the Falcons during 2011-13 and in a career total of 75 AHL contests, recording 12 points (1g, 11a) and 83 penalty minutes. Cullity is a veteran of 234 ECHL games, racking up 75 points (11g, 64a), 256 penalty minutes and a +35 rating.
The Tewksbury, Massachusetts native skated in 145 games with the University of Vermont prior to his professional career, accumulating 25 points (2g, 23a) and 252 penalty minutes.
Cornell, 26, appeared in one contest with the Falcons this season, where he picked up an assist and a +1 rating, while on a PTO from Nov. 13 to Nov. 18. The 5-foot-11, 190-pound defenseman also appeared in 15 contests with the St. John's IceCaps this season, tallying four points (2g, 2a) to go along with 49 penalty minutes. In addition to AHL contests, Cornell has played in eleven games this season with the Florida Everblades of the ECHL, earning five points (1g, 5a) and 17 penalty minutes. Cornell has appeared in 51 career AHL games, acquiring 15 points (6g, 9a) and 127 penalty minutes. He has also skated in a career total of 49 ECHL games, tallying 20 points (3g, 17a), 81 penalty minutes and a +15 rating.
The Franklin, Massachusetts native had a four year career at the University of Maine, posting 29 points (5g, 24a) to go along with 139 penalty minutes in 128 games. Prior to his collegiate career, Cornell spent one season with the New Hampshire Jr. Monarchs of the EJHL, earning 27 points (6g, 21a) and 80 penalty minutes in 45 match-ups.
