IceCaps Release Mike Cornell from PTO

The St. John's IceCaps announced today they have released defenceman Mike Cornell from his professional tryout contract.

Cornell, 26, was originally signed to a PTO on Nov. 23 and appeared in 15 games with the IceCaps, collecting four points (2G, 2A) with 49 penalty minutes.

Prior to signing with St. John's, Cornell skated in 11 games with the Florida Everblades of the ECHL, notching five points (1G, 4A) and 17 penalty minutes. The Franklin, MA native also appeared in a game with the Springfield Falcons (AHL), collecting an assist.

For his career, Cornell has played in 51 AHL games, recording 15 points (6G, 9A) and 127 penalty minutes.
