
Springfield Falcons Assign Denny Urban to Kalamazoo Wings, Release Sauve and Sikura

Springfield, Mass. - The Springfield Falcons have assigned defenseman Denny Urban to the Kalamazoo Wings of the ECHL, Director of Hockey Operations Bruce Landon announced today. The team has also released defenseman Yann Sauve and forward Tyler Sikura from their professional and amateur try-out contracts, respectively.
Urban, 26, has posted 2-9-11 with 12 penalty minutes in 31 appearances with the Falcons this season. The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native earned 2-9-11 with Springfield in 2013-14 after being traded from San Antonio for forward Tim Miller on Feb. 20, 2014. Urban has accumulated 8-39-47 and 32 penalty minutes in 110 career AHL games with Worcester, San Antonio and Springfield. The 5-foot-10, 170-pound defenseman has also notched 28-54-82, 39 penalty minutes and a +24 rating in 117 ECHL contests with the Reading Royals from 2010-13. Prior to his professional career, Urban spent four seasons with Robert Morris University, picking up 28-84-112 and 137 penalty minutes in 136 games.
Sauve, 25, skated in 17 games with the Falcons, tallying two assists and 12 penalty minutes, since signing a PTO with the team on Feb. 4. The 6-foot-3, 209-pound defenseman has appeared in four games with the St. John's IceCaps of the AHL, recording one goal, and 13 contests with the Orlando Solar Bears of the ECHL, tallying four points 2-2-4, 19 penalty minutes and a +1 rating, this season. Sauve has skated in a career total of 217 AHL games with Manitoba, Chicago, Utica, St. Johns and Springfield, notching 8-34-42 and 187 penalty minutes. The Montreal, Quebec native was drafted in the second round, 41st overall, by the Vancouver Canucks in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft and has played in eight career National Hockey League contests with the team.
Sikura, 22, made his AHL debut with the Falcons on March 20. He skated in two games with the team after signing an ATO on March 18. The Aurora, Ontario native also appeared in 33 games with Dartmouth College this season, posting 10-14-24 along with 16 penalty minutes and a +8 rating. In his four seasons with Dartmouth, the 6-foot-2, 170-pound forward has skated in 125 contests, earning 36-56-92 with 61 penalty minutes. Prior to his collegiate career, Sikura spent two seasons with the Newmarket Hurricanes of the Ontario Junior Hockey League, recording 32-57-89 and 18 penalty minutes in 88 games.
