Syracuse Crunch News Release

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that they will honor the 60th anniversary of the Syracuse Nationals winning the 1954-55 NBA title prior to the Crunch's game against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on April 10.

The special pregame ceremony will feature three former players - Dolph Schayes, Bill Kenville and Jim Tucker as well as members of Earl Lloyd's family.

April 10 marks the 60th anniversary of the Game Seven victory, in which the Nationals played and captured the NBA title against the Fort Wayne Pistons at the War Memorial Arena.

The Nationals began their championship run by beating the Boston Celtics 3 games to 1 in the East Division Finals.

This was also the first season of the 24-second clock, a game-changing device perfected in Syracuse by Nationals' president Danny Biasone, general manager Leo Ferris and Emil Barboni, a scout for the team.

The Syracuse Nationals competed in the NBA between 1949-50 and 1962-63 before moving to Philadelphia to become the 76ers for the 1963-64 season.

All fans in attendance will receive a special commemorative Syracuse Nationals team photo.

Single game and season tickets are on sale now and can be purchased either in person at the Crunch Box Office located at the War Memorial on 800 South State Street in Syracuse, or by calling the office at (315) 473-4444.
