Sports Win Over Ft. Worth in 10 Innings, 5-4

It took 10 innings, but the Shreveport Sports snapped a three-game losing streak to Ft. Worth with a 5-4 win over the Cats at Fair Grounds Field Tuesday.

Sports leftfielder J.P. Schmidt had a one-out double in the 10th inning and then stole third base, his fourth stolen base of the game. Chad Gambill then flied out to left field that scored Schmidt to give the Sports the victory.

Shreveport had taken a 2-0 lead in the second inning on a two-run home run by Justin Humphries, his fifth of the year. The Sports added another run in the fourth on an RBI single by Humphries.

Ft. Worth scored a run in the fifth and then took a 4-3 lead scoring three runs in the sixth inning. Shreveport tied the game in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI by Gambill and the game stayed tied at 4-4 until the Sports won it in the tenth.

Shreveport and Fort Worth will play again Wednesday at 7:05 pm at Fair Grounds Field with the broadcast on AM 1130, KWKH.
