Shreveport-Bossier Captains News Release
The Shreveport Sports finished the three-game sweep of Coastal Bend Sunday afternoon at Fair Grounds Field with a 4-1 win over the Aviators.
After Coastal Bend took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning, Chad Gambill hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the first to give the Sports a 2-1 lead. The Sports added the other two runs in the fifth inning on RBI's by Jack Joffrion, his seventh of the series and J.P. Schmidt.
Mal Winters pitched seven innings to record his sixth win of the season while Aaron Cunningham pitched the final two innings to pick up his third save of the year. The Sports will open up a three-game series at El Paso Monday at 8:05 pm and then return home for the final six home games starting next Friday.
