Sporting Kansas City News Release
Sporting Kansas City (5-2-1, 16 points) moved within two points of the MLS Supporters' Shield lead with a thrilling 3-2 win over Houston Dynamo FC (3-3-2, 11 points) on Saturday night in the first full-capacity match at Children's Mercy Park since March 7, 2020. Gianluca Busio scored a world-class free kick to tie the game early in the second half before Alan Pulido and Gadi Kinda added goals of their own to seal the comeback victory.
Busio's brilliant free kick is one of four nominees for the AT&T MLS Goal of the Week, with fan voting now open at @MLS on Twitter. The 19-year-old also assisted Kinda's game-winning tally on Saturday and was selected to the MLS Team of the Week presented by Audi for his comprehensive performance.
Pulido and Kinda have joined their respective national teams this week for competition during FIFA's international window in June. Pulido and Mexico are set to participate in the highly anticipated Concacaf Nations League Finals on Thursday and Sunday at Empower Field at Mile High in Denver. Mexico will face Costa Rica at 9 p.m. CT Thursday and meet either the United States or Honduras in the final or third-place match on Sunday. Both games will be shown live in English on Paramount+ and in Spanish on TUDN.
Kinda and Israel will travel to face Montenegro on Saturday at Podgorica City Stadium in Podgorica before visiting European powerhouse Portugal next Wednesday, June 9, at Estadio Jose Alvalade in Lisbon. Both matches will kick off at 1:45 p.m. CT as Kinda looks to make his senior international debut.
A new episode of the Sporting KC Show Podcast will debut tonight at 7 p.m. CT on Sports Radio 810 WHB. Hosts Nate Bukaty, Aly Trost and Conall McCourt will hear from a Sporting guest, recap Saturday's win over Houston, preview the Concacaf Nations League Finals and more. The Sporting KC Show Podcast is available on Spotify, iTunes and SportingKC.com , giving supporters a weekly destination to catch up on club storylines, player achievements, guest interviews and more.
Led by head coach Paulo Nagamura, Sporting Kansas City II (0-3-3, 3 points) will continue their USL Championship campaign on Wednesday when they host FC Tulsa (3-1-0, 9 points) at Children's Mercy Park. The match will kick off at 7 p.m. CT and stream live on ESPN Plus.
