HARRISON, NJ (July 25, 2010) - Sporting Clube de Portgual and Tottenham Hotspur FC battled to a 2-2 draw on Sunday afternoon at Red Bull Arena in the first game of a doubleheader on the final day of the Barclays New York Challenge. Jonathan Obika scored the equalizer in the 70th minute of the back and forth affair.

Tottenham defender Alan Hutton had a great chance to score the match's first goal in the fourth minute when he collected a perfect through ball from Niko Krancjar, but his shot sailed over the Sporting net. Sporting should have taken the lead in the eighth minute with a flurry of chances in front of Tottenham's goal. Carlo Cudicini made two spectacular saves before Miguel Veloso's shot from 10 yards out towards a vacant net rang off the crossbar and over for a goal kick.

Tottenham struck first in the 24th minute. Krancjar beat Sporting's offside trap with a pinpoint through pass, finding Robbie Keane in stride. The Ireland international easily fired the ball past Rui Patricio into the far side netting.

Sporting wasn't behind for long, as it leveled the game in the 25th minute. Diogo Salamao sent a cross from the right side towards the center of the Tottenham penalty area, where Matias flicked a header into the far top corner from 12 yards out.

Jaime Valdes gave Sporting the lead in the early stages of the second frame. The midfielder collected the ball just outside the penalty area and dribbled past Hutton before finding the back of the net with a low, left footed blast from 17 yards out.

Spurs clawed their way back level with 20 minutes to play. Keane intercepted a Sporting back-pass and fed the ball behind the defense to substitute Jonathan Obika. Obika took a few touches before taking an effort at goal that Rui Patricio got a piece of but could not keep out.
