Charleston RiverDogs News Release
CHARLESTON, SC - He may live in a pineapple under the sea, but on Monday, June 28, SpongeBob SquarePants will be bringing his irresistible antics to Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park.
The Charleston RiverDogs welcome SpongeBob SquarePants to The Joe for a night of fun and games. The lovable yellow sponge was able to talk his way into a day off from the Krusty Krab to make the short trip from Bikini Bottom to the Holy City.
Fans of the hit Nickelodeon cartoon are in for a treat as the RiverDogs' mischievous mascot, Charlie T. RiverDog, and the singing sponge are sure to team up for some shenanigans throughout the RiverDogs contest.
The New York Yankees Class A affiliate is even giving a few lucky fans the chance to hang out with SpongeBob prior to Monday's game. The team's box office is offering 90 special tickets for $20 apiece that will give fans early admission into the stadium and allow them to be a RiverDogs VIP with Bikini Bottom's favorite citizen.
The $20 voucher gives fans early entry into Monday's game and grants them access to one of the RiverDogs' suites. In the suites, those 90 fans will enjoy the company of SpongeBob himself, along with light snacks and refreshments. Those who purchase the $20 vouchers are welcome to stay in the suites through Monday's contest.
"SpongeBob is huge with kids and the young-at-heart, and we've very excited that he's coming to a RiverDogs game," said General Manager Dave Echols. "We know how popular he is and through our 'Be Your Own Fan' approach, we know that SpongeBob's loyal following will want to see him up front and personal."
All fans are encouraged to bring their cameras to Monday's game as SpongeBob will be available for pictures throughout the evening.
While the RiverDogs always remind their fans to "Be Your Own Fan," this Monday the team is urging fans to "get on the deck and flop like a fish" with SpongeBob.
As with every Monday, this evening is also a Dogs with a Cause night, with the RiverDogs partnering with a local non-profit organization. This Monday the RiverDogs take the field with the Charleston Animal Society. Fans are invited check out the group's table displays and information booths that will be set up on the concourse.
The RiverDogs begin a five-game series at Riley Park against the rival Greenville Drive on Thursday, June 24, at 7:05 p.m. For more information on tickets and the special suite voucher visit www.riverdogs.com or call the box office at (843) 577-DOGS (3647).
