
Spokane Shock Prepare for Divisional Match-Up at Utah Blaze

SPOKANE, WA (April, 30th, 2012) - Coming off a victory against the Jacksonville Sharks, the Spokane Shock will prepare for their second road game in two weeks against the Utah Blaze in Salt Lake City, UT. The game, previously scheduled for Saturday, has been moved to Friday, May 4th at 6pm PST due to the NBA Playoffs being hosted during the original game time.
The Utah Blaze (5-2) are off to their best start in franchise history due to their win against the Milwaukee Mustangs last Saturday. Blaze QB Tommy Grady threw for 374 yards and eight (8) touchdowns with no interceptions and added another touchdown on the ground. This season, Grady and the Blaze are second best in the throwing for 314 yards per game and are fourth in the league in points per game putting up 61.9 each contest. On the defensive side of the ball, Utah leads the league through the first seven games of the season with 21 sacks against opposing teams. The Shock will have their hands full with WR Aarson Lesue who comes into the game third in the league in receptions per game (10 per game). Lesue has racked up 70 receptions on the season for 739 yards and 24 touchdowns.
The Spokane Shock (3-3) come off a close game against the Jacksonville Sharks (2-4) in their Week 8 AFL match-up. Against the Sharks, Shock QB Kyle Rowley threw for 218 yards and six (6) touchdowns while also adding a touchdown on the ground. The Shock will enter their Week 9 match-up against the Utah Blaze averaging 54.5 points per game. Last week, the Shock activated a number of players from Injured Reserve. Freddie Harris recorded his first reception of the season against Jacksonville last week and was accompanied by Terrance Sanders who recorded his first two (2) interceptions in last week's contest. Sanders leads the league in Kick Return Average through six (6) games with 30 returns for 715 yards and 1 TD (23.8 yards per return) and also leads the league in Tackles with 45 solo and 11 assisted; which averages to 8.4 tackles per game.
This week's contest between the Shock and Blaze has been moved to Friday, May 4th, 2012 at 7pm.
