Milwaukee Mustangs News Release
MILWAUKEE (April 30, 2012) - The Milwaukee Mustangs (2-4) take on the Philadelphia Soul (6-1) Saturday, May 5 at 6:05 p.m.
Philadelphia (6-1) is the hottest team in the Arena Football League. The Soul are perched on top of the American Conference's East Division standings and have the best record in the AFL. They've also won four straight games.
The Mustangs sit in third place in the division with a deceiving 2-4 record. Milwaukee has endured two last-second losses in a row to a pair of quality teams in the Chicago Rush and Utah Blaze. Utah escaped the Bradley Center last Saturday with a 61-58 victory last by scoring a go-ahead touchdown with just five seconds left on the clock.
The main reason for Philadelphia's success has been its explosive offense. The Soul lead the AFL by scoring 73.4 points a game, which is more than a touchdown better than second place San Jose (65.0 points per game).
Philadelphia has been able to get the job done on the ground. The Soul lead the AFL with 18 rushing touchdowns. Fullback Derrick Ross has bulldozed into the end zone for 12 of those scores, but Ross sat out last week's win over Orlando because of an injury.
The Soul passing attack isn't too bad either. Quarterback Dan Raudabaugh has accounted for 46 touchdown passes with just five interceptions. Receiver Tiger Jones is the main receiving threat. The three-year AFL veteran averages 125 receiving yards a game and has reached the end zone 20 times.
Quarterback Gino Guidugli leads the upset-minded Mustangs. Guidugli has been a model of efficiency early in the season. He's completed 130 of 192 passes for 29 scores and just three interceptions. His favorite target so far has been Milwaukee product Jared Jenkins, who leads the team with 46 catches and 13 touchdowns.
A win in Philadelphia won't be easy. But the trip represents a big opportunity for a Milwaukee team looking to move up in the standings and end a short string of heartbreaking losses.
The Mustangs are looking forward to the 2012 AFL season and you should be too. Tickets and Sponsorships are on sale now! For more information visit mkemustangs.com or call 414-224-4000 today! Please make sure to follow the Milwaukee Mustangs and Fillies Dance Team on Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter.
