EVERETT, Wash. - Ty Smith collected a pair of assists to help the Spokane Chiefs score five unanswered goals, defeating the Everett Silvertips 5-2 before 6,087 fans in downtown Everett on Sunday in WHL action.
Sean Richards and Bryce Kindopp tacked on goals for the Silvertips, who lost for the first time in regulation in 12 games. The Tips, playing seven games in ten days, went 5-1-0-1 in the span.

The first period saw lots of fast paced, 200 foot hockey. Both teams got excellent chances but goaltending was sharp for the two division rivals. Halfway through the first, Everett gained the edge in possession and shots and at 16:26, Bryce Kindopp broke the scoreless tie with a wrister past Donovan Buskey to make it 1-0 Tips with assists going to Kyle Walker and Ian Walker.
The second period came had Spokane score 3 goals in 7 shots to take the lead. Riley Woods tied the game at 7:42 for Spokane from the right circle. At 13:44 Riley McKay buried a rebound to give Spokane the lead. After that, Kailer Yamamoto scored the game winner on a snap shot at the left circle to make it 3-1 at 15:59.
The third period allowed Spokane to take a commanding lead over the Tips as Filip Kral scored the insurance goal at 1:34 and Matt Leduc sealed a wrister from between the circles at 15:34 to make it 5-1.
Sean Richards got his 20th goal of the season to make it 5-2, burying a wrist shot off the rush with 3:31 left in regulation.
Dustin Wolf's counterpart, Donovan Buskey, made 29 saves.
