
Spits Fall in Shootout, Gain Point in Kitchener

(Kitchener, ON) - Ryan MacInnis scored the winner in a shootout, as the Rangers squeaked by the Spitfires, 5-4, before 7,174 at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium.
The point gained pulls the Spitfires within one of the Saginaw Spirit for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.
The Rangers took a 3-2 lead to the room after 20 minutes, courtesy of goals from Dmitrii Sergeev (5), Darby Llewellyn (18) and David Miller (16), whose marker at 14:16 chased starter Alex Fotinos (14 saves) in favour of Brendan Johnston (24 saves).
Patrick Sanvido (3) and Jalen Chatfield (1) kept the Spits close in the first and Jamie Lewis (16) got Windsor (24-33-2-2) back to even after 40.
MacInnis and Sam Povorozniouk (14) exchanged third period power play goals, sending the game to extra time.
Jake Paterson earned the win in goal for Kitchener (28-22-3-7), making 31 saves. The Spitfires wrap the weekend Sunday afternoon (2:05), hosting Oshawa.
