
Spits Bounce Back With Late Win Over Whalers

Brady Vail's winner at 17:30 of the third period lifted the Spitfires to a 6-5 win over the Plymouth Whalers Sunday afternoon at the WFCU Centre.
Alex Aleardi had two goals and three assists against his old team and Kerby Rychel had a goal and two assists, as the Spits avenged a 9-1 loss in Plymouth on Friday night.
Aleardi, Emerson Clark (1G, 1A), Alexander Khokhlachev (1G, 1A) and Rychel combined for four unanswered goals in a 3:55 span of the second period, erasing a 2-0 Whalers lead.
Tied at 5-5 late in the third, Vail floated a wrister from the left point that found its way past Matt Mahalak for the winner.
Tom Wilson had two goals for Plymouth (34-17-5-4), which lost for the first time in nine games.
The Spits are back on the ice Thursday night, as they host the London Knights. Gametime is 7:05.
