Windsor, ON - The Spitfires are looking to ride last week's momentum into this weekend as they collected two wins in three games. Windsor defeated the top Eastern Conference teams in Peterborough and Ottawa on their Eastern swing last week. The Spitfires will be looking to continue improving each and every day and have their eyes set on the Barrie Colts. Puck drop is set for 7:00 pm in Barrie at The Sadlon Arena.

Head-to-Head:

The Spitfires head into Thursday's game placed last in the OHL's Western Conference with a 6-17-1-0 record. The Barrie Colts are currently placed 8th in the eastern conference with a 10-11-0-0 record. Most recently, they faced the London Knights at home where they lost 9-3.

Thursday's contest will be the first of two meetings this season between the two clubs. Both will be in the span of a week as the Colts head to Windsor on December 7th. Over the past five seasons, the Spitfires are 4-2-0-0 overall against the Colts and 1-2-0-0 in Barrie.

The last time the two teams met was at the Sadlon Arena where the Spitfires won a barn-burner 8-7 on January 21st 2023.

Scouting the Spitfires:

Liam Greentree (NHL draft eligible) leads the Spitfires in points (34), goals (16) and assists (18). Greentree has 9 points in his last four games (4 goals, 5 assists).

Oliver Peer is 2nd behind Greentree with 29 points with 13 goals and 16 assists. Peer has a four-game point streak going which includes 7 points (5 goals, 2 assists).

Rookie Cole Davis (NHL draft eligible) has been hot as of late. He leads all OHL rookies with 18 points. He has recorded 3 goals and 3 assists in his last 4 games.

Overager Jacob Maillet had a stellar weekend in the east as he recorded 5 points (2 goals, 3 assists) in 3 games.

Scouting the Colts:

Their last time out, the Colts lost to the Knights in Barrie 9-3. Jaiden Newton had two assists on the three Colts goals.

Beau Jelsma leads the Colts with 21 points (7G, 14A). He has not registered a point in the last 2 contests and will be looking to get on the scoresheet Thursday night.

Overager and Captain Connor Punnett is currently 2nd in points, he has 4 goals and 16 assists this season on the backend. He has also been scoreless in his last two games.

Eduard Sale (Seattle Kraken) currently sits third in points on the Colts with 5 goals and 13 assists. Sale was drafted in the 1st round of 2023 NHL Entry draft to SEA.

Looking at the tenders, Sam Hillebrandt has had the 51/49 split between himself and Ben West. Hillebrandt currently has 6 wins in 12 games with a 3.09 GAA and a .903 SV%.

Next Up:

The Windsor Spitfires will head to Guelph after the game in Barrie for a matchup on Friday against the Storm. Puck drop is set for 7:30pm at the Sleeman Centre on Friday. Guelph currently sits at 4th in the Western Conference with a 15-8-0-1 record.
