Spitfires Take Down Otters

Justin Shugg scored a goal and an assist to lead the Windsor Spitfires to a 6-2 win over the Erie Otters in an Ontario Hockey League pre-season game played tonight at the Tullio Arena.

Eric Wellwood, Ryan Ellis, Ben Dubois, Adam Henrique and Harry Young also scored for the Spitfires while Taylor Hall collected three assists.

Zack Torquato and Paul Cianfrini replied for the Otters.

Erie led 1-0 after one. Windsor carried a 3-1 advantage into the third.

Windsor out shot Erie 36-31 in the game. Shane Owen started for the Otters and allowed one goal on 15 shots. Mike Swick took over midway through the second and surrendered five goals on 21 shots.

The Otters dropped to 0-2 in exhibition play while the Spitfires improved to 1-2.

The Otters wrap up their pre-season schedule with three straight games on road beginning with a pair against the London Knights on Friday and Saturday. Friday the two teams meet at the John Labatt Centre in London followed by a Saturday contest in St. Thomas, Ontario. Erie completes the exhibition season September 11th when they travel to Niagara to face the IceDogs.
