In the first period, the Firebirds would get an early powerplay and capitalize on it for an early 1-0 lead. That lead lasted just 12 seconds as Daniel D'Amico put the puck in a yawning cage as Maillets shot was blocked. D'Amico scored his 5th of the postseason with Maillet and Renwick getting the assists. It was all knotted up at 1 after 20 minutes. The Spitfires led in shots 13-9.

In the second period, the Firebirds scored another powerplay goal to take a 2-1 lead. After getting the lead the Firebirds would sit back and play a trap. They held the Spitfires to 13 shots in the period with Cavallin making 13 saves.

In the third period, the Spitfires poured on the pressure looking for the games tying goal. Just under halfway through the period, Christopoulos got the puck on the faceoff dot and shot towards Cavallins goal, the puck bounce in and out onto the ice and a crashing D'Amico slapped it into the net for the games tying goal and the Spits faithful in Flint and at home celebrated. The Spits and Firebirds would go on to cautiously play out the period. We were headed to sudden death overtime.

In the overtime frame, both teams traded chances but the Spitfires dominated possession and shots. The shots were 13-5 in OT alone. The Spitfires came across the Flint blue line and Cylle ripped a shot that was stopped, he got the puck back and passed it to Perrott at the point. Perrott dangle Pitre and made his way to the goal and sniped the games winning goal to send this series to 7!
