Windsor Spitfires News Release

WINDSOR, ON - The Spitfires are happy to finish the last regular season game with no injuries. Despite the score, the Spits will rest on Sunday before preparing for the playoffs on Monday.

In the first period, the pace of play was pretty quick as both teams' looked for the games opening goal. The Spitfires were able to get on the board first. A little cycle play in the corner came to the blueline where Harrison shot it through a crowd and it found its way into the net. It was Harrison's 30th of the season and was assisted by Peer and Dionicio. The Spitfires fired 7 shots while the Knights had 15.

In the second period, the Knights would rally off 4 goals and take a commanding 4-1 lead. They outshot the Spitfires 15-7 in the frame and 30-14 overall.

In the third period, the Spitfires coasted through the evening. Just over 3 minutes in, Maggio would score his league leading 54th of the season. The Knights would respond with 2 shorthanded goals to take a 6-2 lead. Late in the game, Jodoin would shoot a dump in from center ice and it went straight in as Bowen was not paying attention.

The Spitfires would ultimately fall 6-3 in a meaningless game.

The Spitfires are back in action for playoffs. The first game is scheduled for Thursday March 30th. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05pm. The opponent is unknown.
