2022-23 BATTALION REGULAR-SEASON SUMMARY
FIRST GOAL: The Battalion is 34-0-1 when scoring the first goal of a game and 12-17-2 when the opposing team scores first.
AFTER TWO PERIODS: The Battalion is 35-1-1 when leading after two periods, 2-16-0 when trailing after the second, and 9-0-2 when tied at the end of the second.
ONE-GOAL DECISIONS: The Battalion is 9-5-3 in games decided by one goal.
BATTALION 2ND IN DEFENCE: The Battalion has the 2nd-best defensive record in the OHL, allowing 179 goals in 66 games for an average of 2.71, trailing the Ottawa 67's (170 against in 67 games for 2.54).
TROOPS 5TH IN OFFENCE: The Battalion ranks 5th in OHL scoring with an average of 4.17 goals per game (275 in 66 games). Windsor Spitfires are 1st at 4.73 (317 in 67 games), followed by Sarnia (286 in 66 for 4.33), Flint (287 in 67 games for 4.28), and Ottawa (281 in 67 for 4.19).
POWER PLAY: The Battalion is 8th in power-play efficiency with a scoring percentage of 22.7. The Troops have scored 55 goals on 242 opportunities.
PENALTY KILLING: The Battalion is 1st in penalty-killing with an effectiveness of 87.1 percent. The Troops have allowed 35 power-play goals during 272 times shorthanded.
PENALTY MINUTES: The Battalion is the 3rd-most penalized team in the OHL, averaging 12.3 minutes per game.
EVEN STRENGTH: The Battalion has scored 220 goals at even strength or when shorthanded, and surrendered 144 goals at even strength or with the man advantage.

The Battalion is five points ahead of its pace of 2021-22 when the Troops finished first in the Central Division and third overall in the OHL with a record of 43-18-7 for 93 points in 68 games. The Battalion won 3-1 at Sudbury in its 67th game last season.
TROOPS AMONG OHL LEADERS:
MATVEY PETROV: Left winger Petrov has 27 goals and 65 assists for 92 points in 64 games and is tied for 6th in the OHL scoring race. He's 3rd in assists (65), tied 4th in power-play assists (27), and is 7th in plus-minus (+33).

TY NELSON: Defenceman Nelson has 23 goals and 50 assists for 73 points, all career highs, in 66 games. He is tied for 2nd in goals (23), is 3rd in points (73) and tied for 5th in assists (50) by rearguards. He is tied for 4th among all players with 294 shots on goal and tied for 7th in power-play goals (13).
JOSH BLOOM: Left winger Bloom has 31 goals and 38 assists for 69 points, all career highs, in 67 games with the Battalion and Saginaw Spirit and is tied with three others for 4th in the OHL with four shorthanded goals.
PAUL CHRISTOPOULOS: Defenceman Christopoulos has two goals and 22 assists for 24 points in 66 games and leads the OHL in plus-minus (+50).
NIKITA TARASEVICH: Right winger Tarasevich has 16 goals and 27 assists for 43 points, all career highs, in 63 games. He is tied with Cameron Tolnai of Ottawa and Francesco Pinelli of Kitchener for the league-lead with five shorthanded goals.
KYLE McDONALD: Right winger McDonald has 34 goals and 18 assists for 52 points in 43 games and is tied for 5th in the OHL with eight game-winning goals.
DOM DiVINCENTIIS: Goaltender DiVincentiis is 36-9-2 with a 2.33 goals-against average, .919 save percentage and five shutouts. He leads all netminders in wins (36), average (2.33) and save percentage (.919), and is tied for 1st in shutouts (5).
