Windsor Spitfires News Release
The Spitfires were resilient all Friday night long and came back from 3-1 to win game one.
In the first period, both teams traded a few chances but no one could break the deadlock. The Spitfires had a few powerplay's but nothing doing. The Spitfires led in shots 10-8 after the first.
In the second period, the Bulldogs would get a few powerplay's in a row and capitalized on one to go up 1-0. Just 49 seconds later, Captain Cuylle scored in the high slot to tie it up. Late in the period, just as another Spitfires penalty expired Hamilton scored to take a 2-1 lead. The Bulldogs led in shots 28-19 after 40 minutes.
In the third period, Hamilton would score and extend their lead to 3-1. With 7:30 to play in period 3, Will Cuylle scored his 2nd of the night to bring the Spitfires back within one. Late in the period, Oliver Peer got the puck in the neutral zone and walked in over the Dogs line and ripped a snipe to tie this game at 3 and send it to OT.
In the overtime frame, the Spitfires had a 5 minute major powerplay as D'Amico was hit from behind. On the ensuing powerplay Perrott got the puck to Abraham and used his excellent vision to find Renwick coming off the bench. Renwick walked in and sniped the game winning goal sending his former Bulldogs home.
The Spitfires and Bulldogs are back in action on Sunday at 2pm.
