
Spitfires Beat Sarnia 5-1 on Superhero Night

The Spitfires defeated the Sting by a score of 5-1 in a chippy contest Sunday evening at the WFCU Centre.
In the first period, the Spitfires got on the board first. Johnston fed the puck to Maggio who sprung Abraham in on a breakaway and he went five-hole to give the Spitfires the lead just under seven minutes in. just under three minutes later, the Sting tied the game at one. However it was all Spitfires from their. Four minutes later, Maggio ripped home the game winning goal, unassisted. Just two minutes after that, Johnston scored on the powerplay for this 29th on the season. Assists went to Henault and Perrott. The Spitfires had a 3-1 lead after 20 minutes and doubled up the Sting in shots 14-7.
In the second period, it was all Spitfires. Just a minute and 26 seconds into the period, Bronson Ride scored his first career goal to put the Spitfires up 4-1. Just less than ten minutes later, Maggio scored his 2nd of the game and made it 5-1. The Spitfires then cruised to victory with no scoring in the third period.
Maggio took home first star honours followed by goaltender Onuska and defenceman Ride.
The Spitfires are back in action next weekend for a 3 in 3 on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Friday's game is in London with puck drop scheduled for 7:30pm, then Saturday at home vs the Soo at 7:00pm and Sunday at home vs London, puck drop scheduled for 4:05pm.
