Windsor Spitfires News Release

Spitfires Vice-President and General Manager Warren Rychel is very pleased to announce the club has acquired top prospect Logan Brown from the Niagara IceDogs.

In exchange, the Spitfires have agreed to send six draft picks to Niagara: Guelph's 2nd in 2015, Windsor's 2nd in 2017, Guelph's 2nd in 2018, Kitchener's 3rd in 2016, Windsor's 3rd in 2018 and Windsor's 14th in 2017.

Originally a first-round selection (6th overall, 2014 OHL Priority Selection) of the IceDogs, Brown is a highly-touted, 6'5, 210-pound centre from Chesterfield, Missouri.

"We're very happy to get a young player of Logan's caliber," Rychel said. "He is a kid with unlimited potential, with good size, a lot of skill and a high hockey IQ. This is an exciting day for the organization and our fans. A player like Logan is hard to find."

Brown, the son of former NHL defenceman Jeff Brown, is widely considered a top-10 prospect for the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.

In 19 games with the Indiana Ice Midget U16s last season, Brown registered 19 goals and added 12 assists with 12 penalty minutes.

Jeff Brown played 747 NHL games and is also a former teammate of Rychel's with the Sudbury Wolves. The two played together 30 years ago during the 1984-85 season.
