By The Numbers:

Spirit forward Jesse Gimblett continues a hot streak, with seven points his last six games. Nick Lees' hat trick against Peterborough was the third in franchise history, and the fast three goals (29:27) ever scored by a Spirit player.

Lees' 24 goals also ties him for 7th in the league.

By The Numbers Part 2:

Spirit fans have made the team the 4th best in the league for attendance at the half-way mark of the season. The Spirit were averaging 4137 fans per game through January 1st, better than all but Ottawa, London and Kitchener!

Off to the All Star Game:

Spirit defenseman and captain Paul Bissonnette was honored with a selection to the OHL West All-Star game. The game will be played 1/27/04 in Peterborough, Ontario.

Spirit v. Sarnia 7:00 PM, Saturday, 1/24 (21-16-4-4)

The Spirit are 0-3 against division rival Sarnia this season, with a 3-2 loss on 12/27, 4-3 loss on 11/1 and a 3-0 loss on 9/28. The Sting bring the league's sixth leading scorer in overage forward Dan Sisca, sixth best goalie for save percentage in Ryan Munce and former Saginaw Spirit forward Colt King, fresh off a trade from Sault Ste. Marie. Sting forward Marco Caprara leads the league in penalty minutes.

Spirit v. Plymouth, 2:00 PM, Sunday 1/25 (20-14-8-3)

The Spirit are 1-4 against the division rival Plymouth Whalers, with a 4-1 win on 1/4, and losses of 5-1 on 12/17 and 12/5, 3-0 on 11/8 and a 3-2 loss on 11/9. The Whalers bring one of the top prospects for the 2004 NHL draft in forward Vaclav Meidl, who is tied for sixth in rookie scoring. Defensman James Wisniewski is the league's third top scoring defenseman and goaltender Paul Drew carries the league's second best save percentage and fourth best goals against average.
