Niagara IceDogs News Release
Guaranteed Win Night â Jan 24th .... The Mississauga IceDogs management has guaranteed a win versus the Brampton Battalion on January 24th. As part of Toronto Argo's Night, the IceDogs will be giving all fans a free ticket to an upcoming game if the âDogs do not beat Brampton. Also, fans will have an opportunity to meet a number of Argo's players including Mike Clemmons and Damon Allen.
IceDogs vs Toronto â Jan 14th .... The Mississauga IceDogs (24-9-6-2) were
edged in overtime 4-3 Wednesday night by the St. Michael's Majors. The IceDogs
started slow after having to wait over an hour for the Majors to fight through the
snow storm. After the delay, St. Mike's jumped on the IceDogs early scoring three
first period goals. The IceDogs would battle back from 1-0 and 3-1 deficit's to tie
the game late in the third period. Dany Revelle (5), Chad Painchaud (11) and Anthony
Butera (8) all scored for the âDogs to force overtime. However the IceDogs season
struggles against St. Mike's (1-3-0-0) continued as the Majors were able to rally in
overtime to hand the IceDogs their first loss in four games and their fourth
straight to St. Mikes.
IceDogs at Plymouth/Windsor â Jan 16th/17th.... The Mississauga IceDogs
(24-11-6-2) lost both games on their two game road trip this weekend. The 'Dogs
started in Plymouth Friday night, playing the second of a two game season series
against the Whalers. But unlike December 28th, when the IceDogs rallied late to tie
the game and then win in overtime, there was no comeback as they were handed their
worst defeated of the season 8-2. Mississauga's two goals were scored by Patrick
O'Sullivan (31) and Cody Bass (2).
The IceDogs had little time to shake the loss as they traveled to Windsor for an
afternoon game against the Spitfires. The team seemed to have shaken the previous
night's performance when Dan Rudisuela scored his 15th of the season only eight
minutes in. But Windsor would respond with a pair of goals to take a 2-1 lead. Chad
Painchaud would then get his 12th of the season to pull the 'Dogs even. Dan
Rudisuela would get his second of the night midway through the third, but not before
Windsor had already scored twice earlier in the period. With the 'Dogs trailing 4-3
late in the game, Windsor would add two more into an empty net and hand the IceDogs
their third consecutive loss.
CHL Prospect's Game â Jan 21st... IceDogs rookies David Shantz and Chad
Painchaud will both compete in the CHL Top Prospect's Game tomorrow night in London.
The game, featuring the top 40 prospects for the 2004 NHL Entry Draft will be aired
across Canada on Sportsnet starting at 7:00pm.
Upcoming Schedule .... The IceDogs will travel to Toronto Thursday night to
play their sixth of eight games against the St. Michael's Majors. The IceDogs lost
4-3 in overtime in the team's last meeting on January 14th. After Toronto, the
IceDogs will host a pair of home games against the Owen Sound Attack (Friday at
7:30pm) and Brampton Battalion (Saturday at 7:00pm). The âDogs have yet to play
Owen Sound and have an impressive 5-0-0 record against Brampton.
