July 31, 2005 - Canadian American League (Can-Am)
North Shore Spirit News Release

Behind a dominating performance from Bryan Morse, the North Shore Spirit topped the Elmira Pioneers 7-0 Sunday afternoon on Garelick Farms Family Day at Fraser Field.

Morse (9-2) went the distance for his league-leading third shutout of the season. He limited the Pioneers to only four hits while walking just one batter. The win was Morse's 9th of the year, which leads the CANAM league.

The Spirit would get all the offense they would need in the third. Marcos Agramonte singled and stole second, his team leading 18th theft of the season. Two batters later, Rob Fischer laced a double into the left field corner, putting North Shore up 1-0.

In the fourth, Alex Trezza connected for his 11th homerun of the season, a solo shot deep over the fence in right.

North Shore would extend their advantage to three runs in the sixth thanks to a Brian Macchi solo blast.

The Spirit offense would break things open with a four spot in the bottom of the eighth. Agramonte drove home a pair with a triple to right. Yuri Sanchez picked up an RBI with his second hit of the game, a ringing double down the first base line.

A sellout crowd of 3,881 watched as the Spirit extended their winning streak to four games. The win pushes North Shore's second half record to 8-6. Elmira has now lost 22 straight road games.

The Spirit begin a seven game road trip tomorrow night when they travel to Worcester to take on the Tornadoes at 7:05 pm.
