Spirit Take on Spitfires on Military Appreciation Night

Saginaw, Mich. - The Saginaw Spirit (7-7-0-1) will take on the Windsor Spitfires (4-11-1-0) at the Dow Event Center on Saturday, November 11th.

Tonight's game:

Puck drop is at 7:05pm

Saginaw's Military Appreciation night is once again presented by the Michigan State Elks Association. The Spirit Warriors hockey team, a group of veterans, will celebrate Veterans Day with a 4:00pm game. A ticket to Saginaw's game against Windsor also acts as a ticket into the Spirit Warriors game.

The Spirit will also don special veterans day jerseys that will be auctioned off after the game.

Season Series vs Windsor:

Saginaw fell to the Windsor Spitfires last time they met by a score of 5-2 on Saturday, October 21st. Valentin Zhugin was the first to score for the Spirit with assists from Michael Misa and Sebastien Gervais. Calem Mangone soon followed with PJ Forgione and Hunter Haight getting assists. Andrew Oke made 15 saves on 18 shots before leaving the game with an injury. Nolan Lalonde replaced him late in the second period and stopped all eight shots he faced.

Last Game:

The Saginaw Spirit defeated their in-state rival Flint Firebirds by a score of 6-2 on Wednesday, November 8th. Zayne Parekh scored his first career hat trick with Liam Storch scoring his first goal of the season. Braden Haché and Matyas Sapovaliv also walked away with goals. Andrew Oke started in net and made 27 saves on 29 shots on goal.

The Windsor Spitfires lost to the London Knights in a high-scoring match, 10-7 on Thursday, November 9th. Liam Greentree and Ryan Abraham both scored two goals and Cole Davis, AJ Spellacy, and Alex Christopoulos added tallies of their own. Joey Constanzo stopped 29 of 38 London shots in the loss.

Players to watch:

Zayne Parekh (6G-14A-20P) still leads the Spirit in assists, and now leads the team in points as well after his hat trick performance. Calem Mangone and Micheal Misa are tied for second in points with 18. Misa is also tied with Valentin Zhugin for most goals on the team with eight. Andrew Oke leads Saginaw with a 2.89 goals against average (GAA), an .894 save percentage (SV%) five wins.

Liam Greentree leads the Windsor Spitfires in goals with ten and in points with 21. Oliver Peer leads the team in assists with thirteen. Forward Alex Christopoulos has points in all seven games since returning from injury (5G-5A-10P). Joey Costanzo leads Winsdor with a 5.23 goals against average (GAA), an .832 save percentage (SV%) and three wins.

Saginaw currently has six (6) players with ties to the National Hockey League (NHL), including Joey Willis (Nashville), Matyas Sapovaliv (Vegas), Hunter Haight (Minnesota), Braden Haché (Florida), Nolan Lalonde (Columbus, FA), and Ethan Hay (Tampa Bay).

Windsor currently has one (1) player drafted into the National Hockey League (NHL) in Rodwin Dionicio (Anaheim).
