Spirit Sweep Road Trip with Win at Kitchener

The Saginaw Spirit capped off a three game road trip, winning in impressive fashion Sunday afternoon in Kitchener, by a score of 4 to 1. The Spirit jumped out to a commanding 3 to 0 lead after two periods and held off the Rangers to sweep a grueling three game road trip.

Saginaw's Carlos Amestoy got the Spirit started for the second straight game with his 4th goal of the season, assisted by Vincent Trocheck and Steven Strong at 8:39. Saginaw's Michael Fine scored next off a setup by Brandon Saad & Josh Shalla at 15:00. The Spirit led 2 to 0 at the end of the 1st despite being outshot 19 to 15.

In the second the Spirit added to their lead on a goal by Josh Shalla, his 26th of the season, assisted by Michael Fine and Brandon Saad. The Spirit outshot the Rangers 21 to 8 in the period.

In the third, Kitchener's Michael Catenacci scored off the power play, assisted by Faska & Rieder at 10:01 but could get no closer. Brandon Saad clinched the win with an empty net goal at 18:49.

The Spirit outshot Kitchener 51 to 38 in the win. Saginaw collected six points in the three game road trip that featured good solid goaltending in all three games.
