Erie Otters News Release

The Saginaw Spirit struck for two unassisted goals in the opening half of the second period on their way to a 2-1 win over the ERIE OTTERS in an Ontario Hockey League game played tonight in front of 5,444 at the Tullio Arena.

Phil Kozak and Sean Courtney, the former OTTER with what stood as the game winner, did the damage for the Spirit, who won for the second straight time.

Josh Patterson netted the lone OTTERS' goal. Rob Hisey collected an assist on the goal to extend his point-scoring streak to 14 games (8-19-27), the fourth longest in franchise history.

The two teams were scoreless after one. Saginaw carried a 2-1 lead into the third.

The loss was the OTTERS fourth straight (three in overtime) and dropped them to 23-19-6-4 on the season. Saginaw improved to 14-34-2-3.

The OTTERS out shot the Spirit 42-20 in the game as Josh Disher took the loss. Mike Brown turned an outstanding performance between the pipes for the Spirit in a 41-save effort. The three stars of the game were 1. Brown; 2. Patterson and 3. Courtney.

The OTTERS complete the weekend tomorrow (Sunday) when they travel to Guelph to meet the Storm (37-9-5). The game can be heard live on SportsRadio 1330 the FAN and at www.ottershockey.com (presented by the James H. Cross Company) beginning with the pre-game show at 1:45 p.m.

The next OTTERS home game takes place on Saturday (February 14) when the Kitchener Rangers pay a visit to the Tullio Arena for a 7:30 p.m. start presented by Stefanelli's Candies.
