Saginaw, Mich. - The Saginaw Spirit (6-7-0-1) welcome the Flint Firebirds (7-6-1-1) to the Dow Event Center on Wednesday, November 8th, for the third matchup of the Coors Light I-75 Divide Cup. The eight-game season series currently sits tied at one win apiece.

Last Time:

Saginaw prevailed over the Sarnia Sting, 3-2, at the Progressive Auto Sales Arena on Tuesday, November 7th for their first road victory of the season. Branden Haché headlined a two-assist afternoon, with Dean Loukus and Matyas Sapovaliv scoring their second and fifth goals of the year respectively. Will Bishop scored the first goal of his OHL career on assists from Hunter Haight and Michael Misa. Andrew Oke made 27 saves in a bounce-back performance, grabbing his fourth win of the season.

Flint defeated the Mississauga Steelheads on Saturday, November 4th, by a score of 5-1 at the Dort Financial Center. Gavin Hayes finished the night with three points (2G, 1A) with Coulson Pitre adding two goals of his own. Braeden Kressler managed a goal and an assist, and Zacharie Giroux, Tristan Bertucci, and Simon Slavicek all ended the night with two assists. Nathan Day protected the crease for the Firebirds, stopping 30 of 31 in his sixth win of the year.

This Season:

Saginaw and Flint have faced each other twice this season, splitting the series thus far. Dean Loukus and Zayne Parekh scored in a 2-1 home win for the Spirit on October 11th. Andrew Oke stopped 24 of 25, and Flint's Nathan Day stopped 21 of 23 Spirit shots in the loss. The second matchup was hosted by Flint at the Dort Financial Center, on Sunday, October 29th. Gavin Hayes and Michael Misa each scored a pair of goals in a 5-3 Flint victory.

Players to Watch:

Hunter Haight and Zayne Parekh co-lead Saginaw in points (17) with Parekh leading the team in assists (14). The sophomore defenseman also sits second in OHL in power play assists with eight. Michael Misa and Valentin Zhugin lead the team in goals (8), and Ethan Hay plays his second game against his former team. He picked up an assist that night, and currently has four points (2G, 2A) in six games with his new team. Andrew Oke leads the team in all major goaltending categories with a 3.19 goals against average (GAA), an .881 save percentage (SV%), and three wins.

Zacharie Giroux leads Flint in points (18) and is tied with Braeden Kressler with 10 assists apiece. Gavin Hayes leads the team in goals (10) and is tied for second in the OHL with three game-winning goals. Tristan Bertucci is tied for second in the OHL for plus minus at +14, and Nathan Day leads in all major goaltending categories with a 3.93 GAA, a .867 SV% and six wins on the year.

Saginaw currently has six (6) players with ties to the National Hockey League (NHL), including Joey Willis (Nashville), Matyas Sapovaliv (Vegas), Hunter Haight (Minnesota), Braden Haché (Florida), Nolan Lalonde (Columbus, FA), and Ethan Hay (Tampa Bay).

Flint currently has five (5) players drafted to the National Hockey League (NHL), including Coulson Pitre (Anaheim), Braeden Kressler (Toronto), Gavin Hayes (Chicago), Tristan Bertucci (Dallas), and Nathan Day (Edmonton).
