Spirit Host Otters in Rare Thursday Night Contest

Saginaw, Mich. - The Saginaw Spirit (4-6-0-1) face off against the Erie Otters (4-7-2-0) in their first regular season matchup of the year on Thursday, November 2nd, at the Dow Event Center.

Facing the Otters:

The Spirit and Otters will clash for the first time this season on Thursday night. In last season's four-game series, the Spirit went 3-0-1-0 against Erie and outscored them 19-11. Matyas Sapovaliv was dominant against the Otters with six points (2G, 4A) in four games against them. This will be Erie's first trip to the Dow Event Center since a 4-1 Spirit win on March 9th.

Last Game:

The Saginaw Spirit lost to in-state rival Flint Firebirds, Sunday, October 30th, by a score of 5-3. Michael Misa scored two goals with Lincoln Moore adding his second goal of the year. Roberto Mancini, Matyas Sapovaliv and Will Bishop all earned assists with Calem Mangone being credited with a pair. Goaltender Nolan Lalonde recorded 26 saves on 30 shots.

The Erie Otters lost to the Peterborough Petes Friday, October 28th, by a score of 2-1. Carey Terrance was the sole goal scorer in the home loss with assists from Malcolm Spence and Kaleb Smith. Ben Gaudreau started between the pipes and recorded 29 saves on 31 shots.

Players to watch:

Hunter Haight (5G, 8A) leads the Spirit in points with thirteen (13). Valentin Zhugin leads the team in goals with six (6) and Zayne Parekh leads in assists with ten (10). Andrew Oke leads Saginaw in goals against average (GAA) with 2.68, save percentage (SV%) of .894, and wins with three (3). This will be Nolan Lalonde's first meeting with his former team after being acquired on October 10th. After three consecutive starts last weekend, Lalonde has a goals against average (GAA) of4.59 and a save percentage (SV%) of .837.

Carey Terrance leads the Otters in goals with nine (9) and in points with seventeen (17). Malcolm Spence (2G, 11A) follows him with thirteen points (13). Chicago Blackhawks prospect Martin Misiak (5G, 7A) is third in points with twelve (12). Ben Gaudreau leads the team in goals against average (GAA) with a 4.00 and save percentage (SV%) of .826.

Saginaw currently has six (6) players with ties to the National Hockey League (NHL), including Joey Willis (Nashville), Matyas Sapovaliv (Vegas), Hunter Haight (Minnesota), Braden Haché (Florida), Nolan Lalonde (Columbus, FA), and Ethan Hay (Tampa Bay).

Erie has three (3) NHL-drafted players in Carey Terrance (Anaheim), Martin Misiak (Chicago), and Ben Gaudreau (San Jose).
