New Haven County Cutters News Release

WEST HAVEN, CT – For the third straight night the New Haven County Cutters (19-10, 44-29) ran into a buzz saw as starter RHP Mark Bishop (3-1) allowed one unearned run on four hits and struck out five in 7.0 innings to carry the North Shore Spirit (19-10, 44-29) to a 4-1 victory and complete a three-game series sweep, Thursday night, at Historic Yale Field.

The Spirit capitalized on two Cutters’ errors in the third inning to take a 2-0 lead.

The Cutters trimmed the deficit to 2-1 when centerfielder Marcus Nettles lined a two-out single up the middle to score third baseman Jeremy Terni.

Back-to-back doubles from third baseman Ryan Bethel and left fielder Luis Sabino to begin the Spirit sixth inning and an RBI single from first baseman Vic Davilla set the count at 4-1.

RHP Courtney Hall (2-4) started for the Cutters and was charged with all four runs, two unearned, and struck out six in 5.1 innings as he suffered the loss.

For the series, the Cutters were held to two runs in the three games.

The Cutters look to rebound Friday night in Montclair, NJ, when they open a three-game series against the New Jersey Jackals.

RHP Justin Knoff (6-5, 4.23 ERA) gets the start for the Cutters.
