
Spirit Fall to Whalers 5-0

Tonight at The Dow Event Center the Spirit suffered a loss to their West Division rivals, the Plymouth Whalers by the score of 5-0.
At the 2:31 mark, right-winger Chris Albertini got behind the Spirit defense and scored on a breakaway. Defensemen Austin Levi and left-winger Danny Vanderwiel assisted Albertini's goal. Seconds later, right-winger Stefan Noesen scored to increase the Whaler lead to 2-0. At the 12:40 mark, Plymouth would again score, this time shorthanded, off the stick of center Alex Alerdi. The Whalers would take their 3-0 lead into the second period.
To start the second period, the Spirit had made a goalie change. Clint Windsor would enter the game, making his Saginaw Spirit debut in net, replacing Jake Paterson. At the 18:10 mark of the period, a shot off the stick of Noesen would find the back of the net for Plymouth, stretching the lead to 4-0. Centers Cody Payne and Meurs would assist Noesen's goal. The Whalers would remain on top going into the third period.
One last goal would be score in the third period, this time from Garrett Meurs. Defensemen Austin Levi and right-winger Noesen assisted Meurs shot to put Plymouth up 5-0 and that his how the game would end.
