Spirit Begin Road Trip in Peterborough Thursday

PETERBOROUGH, ON - The Saginaw Spirit (18-21-2-2 40 points, 4th West Division) begin a three-game road trip Thursday night in Peterborough taking on the Petes (20-18-2-4 46 points, 3rd East Division).

The Spirit are coming off of a 2-0 shutout of the West Division leading Windsor Spitfires on Sunday afternoon. Led by the inspiring goaltending efforts of Evan Cormier, Jesse Barwell and Connor Brown scored to propel the Spirit to their first win in their previous five contests.

Peterborough is coming off of a 4-3 win on the road in Guelph on Sunday afternoon. The Petes are led offensively by two snipers Greg Betzold (28 goals) and Hunter Garlent (24 goals). Fourth year player Eric Cornel leads the team with 32 assists and currently has an assist in his last five games. Tampa Bay Lightning prospect Dominik Masin (Ma-SHEEN) has also chipped in with 17 points. The Petes rear-guard has a point in eight consecutive games for Peterborough.

Head-to-Head:

The Spirit and the Petes have met one time this season back on October 10, falling to the Petes by a score of 7-2 at The Dow Event Center. Josh Coyle scored two goals and an assist and defenseman Dominik Masin was +5 in the Petes win. Goaltender Dylan Wells made 46 saves in the Petes winning effort.
