Spirit Announce Potential Dates For 2010 Playoffs

(Saginaw, MI) Experience the intensity as the Spirit head towards the 2010 OHL playoffs. The team finishes out the regular season with a home game Saturday, March 13 against the Kitchener Rangers and an away game on Sunday, March 14 against the Plymouth Whalers.

The Spirit enter the weekend with 71 points and a record of 32-27-4-3. The Erie Otters are in sixth place with 71 points, but have the edge over Saginaw in the rankings due to a better head-to-head record between the two teams. The Guelph Storm are in eighth place with 70 points. Both the Otters and Storm have two games remaining in the regular season.

There are three potential playoff match-ups for the Spirit, pending the conclusion of the regular season this weekend. The Spirit could find themselves playing the London Knights, Kitchener Rangers or Windsor Spitfires in the first round. The OHL playoffs are played as a best-of-seven series, with the winning team of the first round advancing to the conference semi-finals in round two, the conference finals in round three and the OHL finals in round four. The OHL champions will participate in the 2010 CHL MasterCard Memorial Cup Tournament, held this year in Brandon, Manitoba

Regardless of who the Spirit play in the first round, the team will host its first home game of the playoffs on Saturday, March 20 at The Dow Event Center of Saginaw. The puck drops at 7:11 PM.

If the Spirit claim sixth place they will be seeded against the third ranked Kitchener Rangers:

GAME SEVEN: Tuesday, March 30 - Saginaw at Kitchener 7:30 PM (If necessary)

If the Spirit claim seventh place they will be seeded against the second ranked London Knights:

GAME ONE: Friday, March 19 - Saginaw at London; 7:30 PM

GAME TWO: Saturday, March 20 - London at Saginaw; 7:11 PM

GAME THREE: Tuesday, March 23 - Saginaw at London; 7:00 PM

GAME FOUR: Thursday, March 25 - London at Saginaw; 7:11 PM

GAME FIVE: Friday, March 26 - Saginaw at London; 7:30 PM (If necessary)

GAME SIX: Sunday, March 28 - London at Saginaw 4:00 PM (If necessary)
