Aberdeen, MD- Lowell's David Marks went 3-for-4 and drove in the go-ahead run with a double in the sixth inning as the Spinners avoided being swept with a 7-3 victory on Thursday night.
Marks-part of a realigned Lowell outfield in the absence of injured star Ryan Kalish-hit a two-out double to right which scored Yamaico Navarro from first base and broke a 3-3 tie in the sixth.
Aberdeen lost for just the first time in the last six home games.
Outfielder Wally Crancer hit his team-leading fourth home run-a towering solo drive to deep right which landed on the roof of the groundskeeping shed-but it wasn't enough for the host IronBirds.
The IronBirds enjoyed a promising start when Joe Nowicki hit a two-run single in the first which scored Matt Angle and Tyler Henson and made it 2-0. Lowell quickly answered with a pair of its own in the second inning.
First baseman Mike Jones gave Lowell its first lead of the night when his two-out double to right scored Jorge Jimenez from first base in the third inning.
Matt Angle had two steals in the first inning and now has 15 for the season.
Game Notes- Aberdeen's current home stand continues with a three game series against the Batavia Muckdogs (Cardinals)...Batavia is the worst team in the league with a 7-22 record.
