Brooklyn Cyclones News Release
July 19, 2007 - KeySpan Park was packed with 8,253 fans Thursday night who saw the Cyclones fall to the Crosscutters 4-2 to record their first loss in seven games. Brooklyn starter Nick Carr gave up one run on five hits, while striking out four batters in 5.2 innings of work. Brooklyn had rallies in the bottom of the 8th and 9th innings but ultimately fell short.
In the bottom of the 3rd, Brooklyn shortstop Matt Bouchard doubled to left field with two outs to keep the inning alive. Two batters later, third baseman Jake Eigsti continued his RBI rampage by knocking in Bouchard with a line drive single to right field to put the Cyclones up 1-0.
Matt Rizzotti of Williamsport hit a sacrifice fly in the top of the 6th to tie the game. The Crosscutters added three more runs, all unearned, in a top of the 7th that featured one error, one hit batter, and one wild pitch by the Cyclones.
Brooklyn's Ramirez kept the game close to allow the Cyclones to mount a rally in the bottom of the 8th. With the bases loaded, right fielder Will Vogl was hit by a pitch to cut the lead to 4-2, but first baseman Lucas Duda grounded out to first base to end the inning. In the bottom of the 9th, the Cyclones' first two batters reached base, but a double play and ground out to first base put an end to any comeback.
The Cyclones will start a three game series with the Tri-City Valley Cats Friday night at KeySpan Park where there will be fireworks on FDNY night.
