Hudson Valley Renegades News Release

State College, PA (9/4/2014)- The Hudson Valley Renegades fell on the road to the State College Spikes 3-0 on Thursday night, leveling up the best of three series at a win apiece. The loss brings their postseason record to 1-1, as they look for one more win to secure their spot in the championship series. With the Tri-City ValleyCats defeating the Connecticut Tigers two games to none, the winner of Hudson Valley and State College will move on to a meeting with the number one seed in the New York-Penn League. The Renegades are now 4-1 against the Spikes in 2014, as they'll send Chris Pike to the mound in the final game of the series.

Hunter Wood allowed a couple of runs in the first two innings of the contest on Thursday, but recovered nicely after that point. The righty would not allow another earned run over the next four innings. Overall, Wood pitched six frames with two earned runs, just one walk and five strikeouts. He was followed by Eli Echarry who went the next two innings without surrendering a run. The reliever gave up just one hit and struck out two batters in the appearance.

At the plate, Braxton Lee went 2-4 with a double out of the leadoff spot. Jace Conrad and Alec Sole each singled in the outing, as the Renegades were scoreless on four hits.

Notes: The Renegades have one more opportunity at State College to advance to the Championship round. In 2012, they lost the first game of both series en route to their championship finish. Hudson Valley is now 4-1 in games against the Spikes this season.

It is still uncertain of whether or not the Renegades will play another home game this summer. If they win their next game against State College, they solidify one more game at Dutchess Stadium. If Hudson Valley was able to move past State College in the first round of the playoffs, they'd play the first game against Tri-City at home, and the next two on the road.
