Toronto Argonauts News Release
Mississauga - The Toronto Argonauts Football Club would like to congratulate WR Spencer Watt on earning CFL Canadian Player of the Week honours for yesterday's breakout performance against Montreal in the final regular season game of the year. This is the first time Watt, who was a unanimous choice by the voting panel, has won the award.
Watt amped up Argos fans by catching 6 passes for 140 yards, LG 50, and 2 touchdowns, all single-game career-highs. The Simon Fraser University product caught touchdowns from both Cleo Lemon and Dalton Bell and became the second Argos player in 2010 to catch for at least 100-yards in a game (Chad Owens, August 14/10 vs. Montreal). Watt was the Argos' third round pick (18th overall) in the 2010 CFL Canadian Draft.
Watt is the second Argos player to be named Canadian player of the week in 2010; RB/SB Andre Durie won the award in week 8. He is also the first Canadian receiver for the Argos to catch for 100 yards in a game since Andre Talbot in 2007 (Nov. 3/07 at Saskatchewan).
Watt and his teammates head into the CFL playoffs this Sunday, November 14 as they take on the Hamilton Tiger-Cats at Ivor Wynne Stadium in the East Semi-Final. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. ET.
