Sparks Earns 30 Save Shutout as Solar Bears Win 1-0

Orlando, FL - Goaltender Garret Sparks stopped 30 shots and F Tyler Murovich scored the game-winning goal 9:09 into the first period to help the Solar Bears to a 1-0 victory over the Greenville Road Warriors at the Amway Center on Tuesday night. It was the first shutout for Sparks in his professional career while Murovich earned his 100th ECHL point in the contest.
The Solar Bears continued their streak of scoring first on home ice, taking the 1-0 lead at 9:08 of the opening frame. D Colton Jobke fired a slap shot on goal and F Tyler Murovich made a diving play to swat the puck into the net to put the Solar Bears ahead. It was the lone goal of the opening frame, as Orlando led 1-0 heading into the second.
The score remained 1-0 heading into the third, and Sparks picked up a big save midway through the period when he stopped a point-blank chance to prevent surrendering a shorthanded goal and preserve the 1-0 lead. Sparks ended the game with 30 saves on 30 shots to earn his first professional shutout in the 1-0 Solar Bears victory.
