Road Warriors Can't Find Sparks to Beat Orlando's Goalie

Orlando, FL: The Road Warriors were shut out against Orlando on Tuesday night by rookie goaltender Garrett Sparks in a 1-0 loss.

Tyler Murovich scored halfway through the first period on a rebound goal for the game's lone score. Defensemen Corey Fienhage and Colton Jobke assisted on the forwards fifth goal of the year. Orlando outshot the Road Warriors by a 14-6 margin in the first frame.

The second period was more balanced with offensive scoring chances coming from both teams. Greenville outshot Orlando 9-8 but neither team found the back of the net. The Road Warriors also had three power play opportunities but Orlando's penalty kill shut them down.

Sparks remained steady in net for the Solar Bears despite a late power play for Greenville. Connor Knapp was also sturdy in net denying 17 shots in the final frame to give the Road Warriors a chance. Sparks would deny those opportunities and shutout the Road Warriors for his first professional shutout. The rookie netminder made 30 saves in the game. Knapp made 38 saves.

Bring a stuffed animal to the game to throw on the ice after the Road Warriors score their first goal. The Road Warriors are looking to beat last season's donation of over 2,000 stuffed animals and encourage fans of all ages to come out to the game for some great fun and to help a great cause! All stuffed animals collected will be donated to Toys For Tots. On Saturday, December 14, Road Warriors players, joined by members of the U.S. Marine Corps, will deliver the stuffed animals to Sitton Buick on Laurens Road where they will then be donated to children in need.
