Reno Silver Sox News Release

On a night that featured seven home runs, the Reno Silver Sox emerged victorious beating Chico 14-11.

Very rarely will you see a game in which both leadoff hitters hit two home runs each , but that was the case Friday. LF Steve Boggs had played every game of the season for Chico without a single round trip, but the wind was blowing out to left field Friday night and he hit two. 2B Maurice Cole followed suit for the Silver Sox, hitting his second and third homers of the year.

3B Carlos Madrid hit his fourth home run of the year in the second inning and DH Juan Senreiso reached base four out of the five times. Senreiso collected three hits and scored three runs.

Reno starting pitcher Nick Moran pitched five innings allowing eight runs. In the sixth inning Shawn Balteff came in to relieve him. Balteff, making use of his great change up, struck out four batters in three innings on route to earning his second win of the season.

Reno trailed going into the seventh inning, but the Sox scored four runs in the seventh and four more in the eight to solidify the victory.

The Silver Sox will play a three game series in Chico starting Saturday night at 7 PM. All games can be heard on the radio on ESPN Radio 630.

The Sox return home on Tuesday to face the Yuma Scorpions.
