Chico Outlaws News Release

RENO, NV - The Chico Outlaws set a new club record with four home runs in a game but squandered three spearate leads as the Reno Silver Sox scored four runs in the 7th inning and four more in the 8th to post a come-from-behind 14-11 victory Friday night at Peccole Park on the University of Nevada, Reno campus...the Silver Sox earning a split of the four-game series.

On the second pitch of the game, Steve Boggs put the Outlaws in front with a homer over the left field wall. But Reno's leadoff man, Maurice Cole, tied up the contest in the bottom of the 1st inning with a solo shot of his own off Chico starter Jake McKinley. In the 2nd the Outlaws used a pair of round-trippers to score five runs - Ricky Bambino bombed a homer to left with two aboard...then later in the inning Boggs connected again, ripping a home run to left with Eric Pringle aboard, giving Chico a 6-1 lead. But Reno climbed back into the contest with three runs in the bottom of the 2nd (Carlos Madrid smacking a two-run homer) and one in the 3rd (Juan Senreiso scoring on a two-out single by Jose Rodriguez), tying up the ballgame in the 4th on Cole's second solo homer of the night.

The Outlaws went back on top in the 5th - RBI singles by Bambino and Jason Matteucci gave Chico an 8-6 lead. It stayed that way until the bottom of the 7th when Reno went ahead for the first time - Senreiso singled off Outlaws reliever Phil Springman to plate Ryan Kowalski...Kane Simmons followed with a base hit to knock in Victor Hall and tie the score...Senreiso came home on a wild pitch and Rodriguez doubled in Simmons to put the Silver Sox up 10-8. Chico used the long ball once again to tie things up in the top of the 8th - with two outs and Jesse Kovacs aboard, Daniel Nava launched his seventh big fly of the year over the center field wall to make the score 10-10. But in the bottom of the 8th Reno would take the lead for good - Kowalski scored from third when Hall stole second and Bambino's throw went into center field. Hall would then come home on a Senreiso single...then later in the inning Madrid and Mike Done contributed RBI singles to give the Silver Sox a 14-10 advantage. The Outlaws made it interesting in the 9th - Pringle singled home Matteucci and Chico got the tying run to the plate with one out...but new Reno closer Eric Thomas struck out Kovacs and got Scott Dragicevich to ground out to end the game.

Shawn Balteff (2-0), the second of three pitchers used by Reno, picked up the victory, with Springman (2-2) taking the loss for Chico. The Silver Sox piled up 18 hits, with Senreiso and Rodriguez each going 3-for-4 with two runs batted in; Cole, Hall, Madrid, Done and Sam Walker chipped in with two hits apiece. The Outlaws had 15 hits on the night - Pringle and Boggs each had three hits...Bambino had two hits and four RBI...Nava, Matteucci and Todd Gossage each contributing two hits. Friday's loss dropped Chico to 1-1 in the second half and 26-14 overall...Reno improved to 1-1 and 19-20 for the year. The two teams meet again Saturday, but this time in Chico for the start of a three-game series at Nettleton Stadium...right-hander Nick Singleton (2-3) will be on the mound for the Outlaws, with lefty Dusty Bergman (2-3) expected to start for the Silver Sox.
