Orange County Flyers News Release
The Orange County Flyers have now lost four straight games after dropping a 6-4 decision to the Long Beach Armada at Blair Field.
The Flyers made a late rally, but the tying runs were left on base in the 9th inning when Scott Goodman flew out to center field.
Orange County received six strong innings of relief pitching from Jason Howerton and Ezequiel Ruvalcaba. Howerton pitched three scoreless innings and allowed just one baserunner. Ruvalcaba gave up a solo homerun to Dan Trumble, but he was otherwise dominant.
Long Beach exploded for five runs against SP Reed Dickert in the 2nd inning to take a 5-0 lead. Jorge Araiza drove in two runs with a base hit.
The Flyers scratched out runs in the 6th and 7th innings to make a game out of it before a two-run rally in the 9th. Garry Templeton II and Scott Goodman each had two hits in the game.
Ryan Claypool earned the win for the Armada by pitching into the 7th inning on just three days rest.
The Flyers fell to 0-4 in the second half, while the Armada are 3-0.
The Flyers are excited about a big Saturday night crowd and their ace Ben Fox will be on the mound against St. George. You can catch all the action right here on orangecountyflyers.com.
