Reno Silver Sox News Release

In the midst of a two week stretch in which the Silver Sox play Chico almost every day, St George came to Reno and managed a three game sweep of the Silver Sox. The Roadrunners won the finale Sunday by a score of 11-5.

The Roadrunners scored the game's first run in the first inning when C Wiki Gonzalez scored on a pickoff play.

In the second inning, 1B Ryan Brown continued his hot hitting ways with a two run home run to give the Sox the lead 2-1.

With the Silver Sox ahead 3-2 in the 6th inning, DH Cody Nowlin doubled in a pair of runs to give St. George the lead. Nowlin later scored on a passed ball to make the score 5-3 Roadrunners.

The biggest moment in the game came in the top of the eight inning when the Roadrunners loaded the bases and SS Eddy Garabito hit a grand slam to give St. George a 9-3 lead. Two batters later 3B Angel Sanchez hit a solo home run to extend the roadrunner lead to 10-3.

The Silver Sox mounted a rally in the bottom of the ninth with CF Gary Harris and LF Ross McCoy driving in runs, but it was not enough as the Sox saw St George shake hands on their field for the third consecutive day.

The Silver Sox will be on the road in Chico until Friday, but will return home then to take on the Outlaws in a three game series. You can always get tickets online at silversoxbaseball.com
