June 20, 2003 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Colorado Springs Sky Sox News Release
The Colorado Springs Sky Sox dropped the first game of Thursday's doubleheader with the Albuquerque Isotopes 7-3. Sox started Cory Vance pitched 5 strong innings but ran into trouble in the 6th before getting yanked. Albuquerque right fielder Rob Stratton clubbed his PCL leading 25th Home Run to get the Isotopes started. The Sox held on to win the second game of Thursday's doubleheader 3-2 after the Isotopes 7th inning rally fell short. Sox starter Randy Flores (6-4) pitched 6 great innings, giving up 0 runs and only 3 hits while walking 3 and striking out 1. Brad Clontz came into finish the game but was ejected after arguing with the umpire about a close play at second base. Sox manager Rick Sofield was also ejected, for the second time of the day, during the same altercation. These two teams meet again tomorrow night at Sky Sox Stadium for the final game of the series. The Sox will send Chris Gissell (3-0, 3.66) to the mound to face the Isotopes Scott Sanders (1-2, 2.22).
