NASHVILLE — The Nashville Sounds rallied from an early 4-0 deficit to post a come-from-behind, 7-6 victory over the Iowa Cubs in the finale of a five-game series in front of 8,839 excited fans on Friday evening at Greer Stadium. Nashville won the final four games of the series to improve to 40-34 on the year.

Third baseman Donny Leon doubled the advantage two innings later with a two-run blast to deep right off Meadows.

Iowa got a run back on a Mahoney sacrifice fly against reliever Pat Mahomes in the seventh before the Sounds added a clutch insurance run in the eighth on yet another infield grounder, this one by Cota plating Rivera to up the lead to 7-5.

Iowa pinch-hitter Augie Ojeda led off the ninth with a solo homer to right against Mark Corey to make it a one-run game before the PCL's top fireman retired the next three batters to close the door and notch his league-leading 21st save of the year. He received a huge assist from Davis, who retired Nate Frese with a sliding catch in shallow right for the second out of the inning.

Meadows (4-0) picked up the win to remain undefeated on the season, while Benes (3-1) took his first loss after allowing six runs in his five-inning stint.

Davis, who went 3-for-4 in the game, finished the Iowa series with a .462 average (6-for-13), and Rivera (2-for-3 with three runs scored in the game) logged a .467 (7-for-15) mark in the five-game series.

The Sounds continue their homestand by welcoming the Colorado Springs Sky Sox (AAA-Rockies) to town on Saturday evening for the 6 p.m. opener of a four-game series. It will be the first of 16 meetings between the clubs this season. Nashville won the 2002 season series, 6-2, and took three of the four games played here at Greer Stadium.
